Zunaira & Quincy

Quincy and Zunaira both graduated at the Amsterdam University of the Arts. Quincy at the Urban Contemporary Dance department and Zunaira at the Dutch National Ballet Academy.
With a passion for dance they joined their forces to create a new and inspiring performance. Not knowing each other at all Quincy was introduced to Zunaira by her mother who was always trying to make them collaborate together. The project started without them knowing each other at all. It was all based on faith (Imani).

They got into the studio and started to improvise, explore movements and getting to know each other’s vocabulary.

Both growing up with Latin music they knew they wanted to add some Latin flavor to the choreography, but were open to all that was given while doing research in movement. New work was being created.

They both have their own way of moving. Quincy is known for his great improvisation skills, his afro, urban and contemporary moves and his remarkable way of using musicality, while Zunaira is known for her strong technique, her gracious way of moving, her flexibility and her Latin flavor. They are both excellent teachers who are willing to share their knowledge and passion to anyone who wants to expand their vocabulary. They are always eager to learn and improve more on their journey.

Together they created the performance “Imani” which means faith, because faith has brought them and “Imani” together.
Imani is hope, love, thoughtful, sincere and kind. It’s a mix of Latin, urban, modern and contemporary. It’s a fusion of faith.
