BCN Sensual Family - The Weekend 2024

It was good.

Strengths: good workshops, artists, shows, location,, especialy the casino, party dance near the pool, dancers.

Weaknesses: the acoustic in the Azure location is not so good. If the music was louder, my ears didn't feel confortable.

I was very disappointed with both the Sala Circus and casino floors as they did not slip at all. At the casino, it was hard to turn even with dance shoes. Because of this, I wasn’t able to fully enjoy most of my dances.

Regarding the hotel, it was nice. However, 45 minutes is not enough to eat. And also, it was not convenient to have a specific time to eat because sometimes, we had to choose between going to a class and eat. Which doesn’t make sense

I liked the great line up of teachers, the shows were amazing and the social dancing was very good and happy with the accommodation and facilities at Hotel del Mar.

Things that can be improved: the dance floor at the main hotel was not very good for dancing, on Thursdays due to high humidity levels made most of the dance floor to be wet and very sticky.

Room temperature were either too hot (circus room and at the casino) while the ones downstairs either too hot or too cold).

The timetable was released too close to the event, and the last minute change of the Saturday and Sunday created confusion. Also the distance to the casino (10mins walk) affected the choice of the clases. Meaning I spend half of the day at the casino and missing the classes at the main hotel so I don’t waste time walking between venues.

Two important things that would help in the future:

1. Teachers to communicate clearly on how the change of lines or partner change will happen. Only few teachers have clear instructions, in the rest of the workshops there was loads of time wasted on this where people didn’t cooperate so everyone rotates or change positions for a better view of the moves being taught.

2. Technical support to be available in each room, for sound and lights. There have been issues at main hotel and the casino.

Le fait que les soirées de vendredi et samedi n'était pas dans l'hôtel principal et que ça a été annoncé 2 jours ou un jour avant le début du festival c'est un gros point noir pour l'organisation.

Le fait d'avoir 45 min pour manger a l'hôtel, c'est un deuxième point noir sachant qu'on se faisait chasser dès qu'on dépassait de 5 min le créneau.

La musique: je trouve qu'il y avait beaucoup de dominicaine a 6h du matin quand tout le monde est fatigué et qu'on a juste envie de faire des danses plus douces et sensuales. D'ailleurs le nom est BCN Sensual Family et pas BCN Dominican Family.
