Big Mama Swing

Big Mama Swing is a vintage dance school located in the center of Madrid and dedicated mainly to the different dances of the swing. For this reason, the disciplines we teach are centred on dances from the golden age of swing and jazz, between the 20s and 50s in the USA: Lindy Hop, Balboa, Charleston, Blues and Jazz Steps.

Swing is a style of music, the jazz of the 30s. This music initially brought with it a great movement of social street dance, and progressively became to accommodate professionals of the genre in shows, movies, etc.. Today this style is more fashionable than ever, and has become a great cultural movement around the world, dancing from Melbourne (Australia) to Buenos Aires (Argentina), through Hong Kong, Hawaii and of course, Madrid.

Big Mama Swing is a project of our directors Alba Mengual and Gaston Fernandez, but the team has 7 other couples of teachers trained by them, who bring all their desire and experience to the Big Mama family. Together we form a solid team that trains together and has in its programming show sessions, dance technique and also didactic sessions to continue improving the way of transferring knowledge.
